If you want to quickly skip to a recognizable part for each, I found this section to help to hear the differences: 0:32 Aguilar - Filter Twin 1:10 EHX - Q-Tron 1:47 Solid Gold FX - Supa Funk 2:24 MXR Bass Envelope Filter
I keep trying new envelope filters looking for this magical sound I think is somewhere out there, but in the end, I always go back to the MXR. Such a good filter.
Great demo of these pedals: Susi brings the funk! You've heard of 'bass face', well Susi had 'envelope filter face' going the whole time! This is as it should be! The SolidGoldFX Supa Funk has the most 'vocal', 'throaty' sound, imho, making the bass talk. The Aguilar is a very close 2nd. You can also tell a lot looking at Susi's face: which pedal is harder to resist 'wah-ing' the mouth. I just love EFs!!!
All of these are great pedals in their own right, but I have to say, the EHX Nano Q Tron held its own and sounded right up there among the competitors at times. You cant beat it for the money!
I liked the Q-tron and Solid gold the best. The Mooer was surprisingly good, too. The other pedals had a bit mumbling sound when listened with the headphones. The Mxr seems to be very popular among bass players, but every time the overall sound quality is a bit muddy and disapointing to me
I’m not trying to be deliberately negative, but I never liked envelope filters. It sounds like you are playing underwater. This video didn’t do anything to improve my opinion.
If anything they are a good experimental pedal to change up a line up or to keep a musician interested in trying out something new. Totally understandable though, without other pedals to change the effect (fuzz with some octive for example) they can be a little bit of a one trick pony.
Those envelope filters need an overdrive and octaver/ chorus linked. Then we are on serious synth bass territory. Still, good comparison about the envelopes themselves
This is Germany's entrant to the funk face Olympics. I think she has a fair chance of a medal. Top class funk gurning.

The Head Hunters album, my introduction to fusion and I still love it 🥰
MXR blew me up! I'm so glad it is the one I have 😁 I loooove envelope filters!! ❤🔥
I picked it instantly. Also, the one that I have. :D
The first 3 sounded very similar - in a good way. Nice to hear Paul Jackson lines twice in 3 examples.

Hell yus.. Just feels more warm and well rounded
Thanks do much. Really helped me decide on which pedal to get. I think the Aguilar wins in my book. And I had never heard of it before.
Thanks Susi, cool funky lines ! Think l liked the Solid Gold Most.
Sounds cool, she plays very well too.
By the way, isn't that bass line: Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away ?
Definitely
I love auto filters. this is the new trending sound for pop and dance. Absolutely great!!

I really like the EHX and the MXR the best👍
I picked up a Mad Professor Snow White with the bass/guitar switch. I used to have the MXR before that, but MP just does the job better.
Solidgold FX.
Always solid! But the aguilar also did well
Well done Susi! For me the Filter Twin wins, with the smoothest sound. Solid Gold FX also very nice.😊
Man, I thought I was set to buy an Aguilar but then I saw this video... Now I'm stuck between the Aguilar and the Solid Gold
I loved the faces you made 😅
Either ehx or mxr omg!!
Das Thema kenne ich doch vom Maynard Ferguson Medley. Super schön gespielt! 👌
Paul Jackson lives!
Really useful video!!! Thank you!
I will decide based on your facial expression. Which effector to buy.
For me 1) Aguilar Filter Twin 2)MXR
Hi Susi !
Great video. You sound awesome! Thank you!
Fazer phaser pedal made it in
Ayyye, Suzie is jamming 💖💪🏽
DOD 440
MXR is the winner. Having a Dry switch make it ideal. The rest are not so "bassy"
Can the mxr reverse sweep , or change direction ?
Unfortunately it can’t.
@ishancooper thanks 👍
What’s the name of the song she’s playing?
Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away
Herbie Hancock - Chameleon
Herbie Hancock - Watermelon Man (Head Hunters)
I visited for effects testing. I revisited for those fat riffs. Sssshiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!
Yup
MXR 👌💥
Any of them but the Mooer.
I was lookin to qtron, but....god....mxr froze me!
The Aguilar and MXR sound the best to me
That’s a weird looking kitchen.
Mooer sounded worst
I never liked Lenny Kravitz.

One of those unnecessary pedals for sure !!
If the filter sound is too much, blend in some direct.

I like to be under water
That is one beautiful Fender bass! Excellent sound. Well done, Susi! 😎✌️🎸🎶🎶🎶☘️🍀
